who are we?
HER Campaign is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that exists to provide holistic restoration for victims of sexual exploitation. They provide safe homes, trauma informed care, therapy, education, and job opportunities for victims of domestic violence, sexual abuse and sex trafficking.
HER Campaign was birthed after a young couple from Montana saw an overwhelming need for holistic restoration centers for these victims. Hundreds of thousands of women, who are bought and sold as commodities, have nowhere to go after a life of abuse and statistically have little hope for a future outside of the sex industry. Britney and Sammy Higgs sold their home and their belongings, quit their successful careers, started the non-profit, and stepped into a two year process of training and building a network of professional and ministry leaders to provide the best care for these women.
HER Campaign sees these women as God does: priceless jewels with a divine and extravagant purpose to be loved and cherished. Through their strength-based program, HER Campaign helps these women break the bonds of trauma, start the journey into healing, ignite dreams, and step into a bright future.
When they started the non-profit, they named it “HER” because if they could help one woman step into freedom and restoration after enduring the atrocities of the sex industry, it would be worth it. With your generous help, they can reach countless more lives through more safe home programs globally.
WHERE IT STARTED
During a conversation over coffee with a friend who had recently gone on a mission's trip to India and Nepal ministering to women in the brothels of the Red Light District, Britney's heart broke for the women who's lives were ravaged by the sex trafficking industry. From that moment on, she knew life would never be the same and that she would give whatever it took to help these cherished women.
Britney, alongside her husband Sammy, started an non-profit organization to bring awareness to the issue of human trafficking, specifically in the United States. A year into the journey, they were walking in the hills in Eastern, MT when Britney received a vision for a safe house: a place of refuge where victims of sexual exploitation could seek healing and restoration.
Being only 28 years old and completely unequipped for this work, Britney and Sammy took a leap of faith and followed the vision, selling their home and belongings and quitting their careers in business and film to step full time into the journey of helping these women. They started surrounding themselves with those who had gone before them and immersing themselves in training and connections within the anti-human trafficking community to build a community with the right tools and resources to meet the needs of these lives coming into the safe house.
December 1, 2017, the HER Refuge became a reality and the first woman coming out of a life of sexual exploitation stepped into the program. We are seeing miracles every day in the restoration of this beautiful soul and how God is providing for this organization. "Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things - and the things that are not - to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him."
I Corinthians 26-29
WHERE MY HEART SHATTERED
"After God broke my heart for human trafficking, I stepped into the world of documentary filmmaking to provide more awareness about the leading illicit industry in our world taking so many lives captive.
I had the opportunity to go on a high risk mission to Iraq with Victor Marx and All Things Possible, documenting stories of women, children, and families that had been taken captive by ISIS. The utter devastation of these stories shattered my heart further and made me realize the desperate need for aid and resources to thousands of people throughout our world.
A huge part of my heart is still in Iraq with the beloved Yazidi and Muslim people who have fallen victim to these tragedies. If you would like to see the work continued in Iraq, bringing hope and healing to those effected by ISIS, please visit www.reachchildren.com for more information.
